"Operation Twin Links" the French-American friendship on wheels [fr]
The Twin Links Operation
Christophe de Goulaine and Pierre Lauvergeat wanted to pay tribute to the French-American friendship and thank the American people for their support during WWI by travelling through America with a 1918 Harley Davidson brought by the U.S. Army in 1918 in the French city of Saint-Nazaire.
During 3 months, they will travel 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles) from Alabama to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, through Florida.
Their trip began by crossing the Atlantic from Saint-Nazaire (France) to Mobile, Alabama, where they arrived on June 22, 2018.
They are currently riding to Jacksonville, where they are supposed to arrive between June 28 and June 30, thanks to the support of the Propeller Club of Nantes Saint-Nazaire France and Mobile’s one.
They want then to join Fort Caroline to celebrate the settlement built 454 years ago by French Huguenots in late June 1564, Christophe de Goulaine being the descendant of Captain Rene Goulaine de Laudonniere.
Finally, they plan to go to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to return the centenary motorcycle to its birth place. From there, they will ride along the famous Route 66.
